An opportunity has arisen for appointment as Consultant Gynaecologist & Obstetrician in Gibraltar. Gibraltar, a British dependency on the southernmost tip of the Iberian peninsula is rich in heritage and culture. Gibraltar's Health Service is organised and modelled on the UK NHS and follows traditions of British medical practice. The appointee will be required to provide a comprehensive Gynaecology and Obstetrics service to residents of all age groups together with the existing Consultant. A special interest to complement those of the existing consultant would be welcome, but not essential. Candidates should be eligible for full registration with the UK GMC and hold the European Certificate of Specialist Training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Salary, dependent on experience, ranges from £75,520 to £93,184 per annum. The appointment will be for an initial period of three years. A tax-free gratuity of 25% of basic salary earned during the three years is payable on successful completion of contract. Remuneration in addition to basic salary may be negotiated if candidates have additional skills, are in possession of discretionary points/merit awards or if other exceptional circumstances apply. Passages are payable in full and transportation of personal effects and accommodation are subsidised.

We are inviting applications from Registered Staff Midwives with a minimum of 4 years experience to work in our cheerful Maternity Ward. The unit consists of 11 beds most of which have splendid views across the Bay of Gibraltar. There are 3 Labour Suites, a small Special Baby Care Unit, a Nursery and a delightful Day Room. 2 midwifery Antenatal Examination Rooms, an Admission/Monitoring Room and Ultrasound Scanning facilities are also provided. Applicants should preferably be RGN trained and possession of ENB Course 405 (Special and Intensive Care of the New Born) would be an advantage, to deliver the estimated 450 births we have annually. Appointments will be on contract terms for one-year and salary is dependable on experience ranges from £20,752 to £25,915 per annum. Additionally a tax-free gratuity of 25% of basic salary earned during employment is payable on satisfactory completion of contract. Passages are payable in full and transportation of personal effects and accommodation is subsidised.

Registered General Nurse (Surgical and/or Orthopaedic Experience) If so, why not give us a call as the Gibraltar Health Authority will shortly be undertaking a Surgical Initiative and require highly motivated Registered General Nurses. Candidates must be willing to take on this challenge, either by working as part of this team or to work on other wards in order that we may release staff for this initiative. This opportunity is highly suitable for those on a career break, as appointments will be for a period of eleven weeks, although a shorter period of employment may be negotiable. The posts are tenable on 15 th January 2007 and salary dependable on experience ranges from £17,509 to £23,538 per annum (pro-rata) and additionally we offer a tax-free gratuity based on 25% of basic salary earned during employment, payable on satisfactory completion of contract. Passages to and from Gibraltar are payable in full and accommodation is also subsidised.
